OIFF 08

Oslo International Film Festival 20. – 30. November 2008. The program is released and available at the OIFF 08 website and as  a printed newspaper in Oslo. Pick up the program at Filmes Hus in Dronningensgate 16. A full website with all information is soon available. Download the pdf in the meantime.

The opening film is Slumdog Millionaire by Danny Boyle.
Slumdog Millionaire is the story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?. But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Danny Boyle and his creative team take us on a cinematic rollercoaster ride with modern-day India as backdrop. Based on Vikas Swarup’s best selling novel, Q&A, and adapted for the screen by scriptwriter Simon Beaufoy (The Full Monty), Slumdog Millionaire is a sharp, electrifying, picaresque, very romantic film. We would like to thank SF Norway for the opportunity to open Oslo International Film Festival with the Scandinavian premiere of Slumdog Millionaire, a glorious adventure and a movie to celebrate.
